Design is a word that is perhaps best broken in two:to design is to de-sign. Design is object made mute, signfying nothing.

The urge for 'design' is an urge to escape the found world, which is the arena of signification. It is an urge to present blankness, stimuli arranged just so, everything free from real complexity. 'Design' is a mute landscape of prefabricated, already-commodified objects devoid of life.
