In the U.S. we have a delicious sandwich called a »Reuben.« You may have eaten one yourself. Unfortunately we've had to give up the usual filling, corned beef – because we're either living lower on the food chain, or worried about mad cow disease – and the usual bread is suspect because of all the genetically tweaked grains sloshing around here. Now I make my Reubens with turkey meat on bread made from organic flour, but it doesn't taste quite right. At least the sauerkraut and the dressing are still the same as ever.

How did an entire and ancient people/culture come to be defined as a vegetable? Kraut? Sauerkraut? What a strange species we are.

I had a jar sitting in the room. I awkwardly had notthing to say. I pickked up the jar and remarked to him, »there was sour kraut in this jarit was such a stupid thing to say. So i said, »and everytime there is something wrong, we will just say there was sour kraut in that jar, and everything will be fine. only you and i will know what was in this jar that is the neat and great thign about it« and he said »and only you and i ever will« He said it to me after afterwards, i shook my head and cried. The last words i said to him were » there was sour kraut in that jarand the last words he said to me were that i was the truest persons he has experienced and that my words are incredible, the best way for me to express how i feel. the last thing i did, after his words was i cried.
