The »Bigger Idiot« theory:
A garageSale operates on the bigger idiot theory, which is basically an economic consequence of the law of large numbers: no matter how big an idiot you were when you bought something, there exists a bigger idiot who will wish to purchase the item from you at a garageSale. The first known postulation of the bigger idiot theory was on »Married with Children«.

I wish there were garageSales in Germany. The garageSale I was at in Oklahoma was very nice. It is a way to get cheap things, get to know people and learn about the things that hide on peoples's attics. Though I'm pretty sure they remove corpses and the like before the garageSale. That's also why they don't have an atticSale. The other reason is, you don't want to have people running through your house the whole afternoon. What I got on the garageSale in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, was a used Sonic Youth (does that rhyme?) – CD. Because there was no booklet or whatsoever that came with the CD, I didn't know for a long time what that noise was. It costed (?that right?) only one dollar, so I decided to buy an anonymous CD, which turned out to be a good choice.
