It's funny to think about solid things... because solids aren't really that solid once you see them on a subatomic scale...
Matter consists of empty space with incredibly dense tiny spots of pure energy that are likely to be found in some kind of probability wave interference pattern and these patterns create what appears to be a nucleus and a hull made of electrons on a slightly larger scale, where the atom still consists of mostly empty space.
