The riders in a race do not stop short when they reach the goal. There is a little finishing canter before coming to a standstill. There is time to hear the kind voice of friends and to say to one's self: »The work is done.« But just as one says that, the answer comes: »The race is over, but the work never is done while the power to work remains.« The canter that brings you to a standstill need not be only coming to rest. It cannot be, while you still live. For to live is to function. That is all there is in living.

This week my work is mostly watching television. Really. I go to an office, watch television, write summaries of what is said and get paid. I am slightly alarmed by this fact.

I'm slowly beginning to dig myself out from this backlog of work after the holidays.

My eyes burn from staring at the computer screen and from reading.

I need another cup of coffee – NOW!

Ignore that song you've known since childhood, »Whistle while you work.« First of all, you'll annoy your coworkers. Second, not many people can whistle well. And third, I'm sick of that song.

Work is the energy we expend in the pursuit of living. Anything we do could be called »WORK« in the sense of the pure meaning of the word. Play is the »WORK« of children.

It has become commonplace for a man to work for a female boss. This trend will increase with time.

We have hands because any work done on earth is up to us!

You should enjoy your work more. If you don't, then do something else for a living.

Work is the eight hours you spend so you can enjoy the three hours before bedtime. Make sure it's something you like.
